Earlier in the day, Intimidators shortstop Andy Gonzalez, was promoted to Winston Salem. Cory Haggerty has been promoted from extended spring training to replace him. Haggerty, 22, was drafted in the 18th round of the 2003 amateur draft out of Cortland State College.

Haggerty spent last season in Great Falls where he hit .244 with 1 HR and 16 RBI. He drew 25 BB while striking out 40 times. Haggerty will take over Antoin Gray's position as the backup infielder. Gray will become the starting second baseman, while Valido will be the starting shortstop.

The White Sox also promoted right handed pitcher Orionny Lopez to Kannapolis from extended spring training. Lopez replaces pitcher Adam Larson, who was placed on the disabled list earlier today.

Lopez is one of the Sox top pitching prospects and spent last season dominating Great Falls. He went 5-3 with a 2.37 ERA, giving up 38 hits in 49.1 innings of work, while striking out 53.

To finish off a flurry of moves, the Sox signed first baseman Leo Dagile and sent him to Kannapolis. First baseman Chris Kelly was sent to extended spring training to make room for Dagile. Kelly was a 6th round pick in the 2003 draft, out of the University of Pepperdine.

I'm lookin forward to seein Lopez pitch at Kannapolis, sounds like he could be a pitcher in the future.
