April 30, 200421 yr This is a good article by WSC writer Scott Becker talking about the White Sox and Twins and giving us a numbers look at the two teams. It basically gives us an idea of what to look for when we go get them in March. http://www.whitesoxcentral.com/stuckinsecond.html
April 30, 200421 yr The Twins are 12-6 within the AL Central. We're 5-2. We won't be stuck in second for much longer.

May 1, 200421 yr ' "Stuck" in Second Place ' was the original title. The quotes were dropped somewhere along the way.
May 1, 200421 yr Excellent article there, sum really good points made. Minny's ridin the hot hand of some of their unheralded players rite now, with Torii Hunter back Lew Ford has to DH, I think he's nothin more than a flash in the pan, and he'll be back in AAA soon. Carlos Silva has won 4 games for them, while their other starters hav struggled. 1 thing I am worried about with Minny though is Johan Santana, if he stays injury free which is unlikely, he is very dominating and with their potent offence, he'll win a lot of games.
May 1, 200421 yr 1 thing I am worried about with Minny though is Johan Santana, if he stays injury free which is unlikely, he is very dominating and with their potent offence, he'll win a lot of games. Santana was having trouble throwing strikes with his changeup. My guess is he'll find his groove soon. We've seen what happens to Scott Schoeneweis when he can't get his breaking pitches over. Same probably with Santana. One thing to think about, even if Minn keeps winning like the Sox. An AL Central team could challenge for the wildcard. Esp. if KC stays down and Det. goes back to normal. With Bos and NY slugging it out, and Balt and TB improved, both teams won't find many easy games within their division.
May 1, 200421 yr Unfortunately, I think the Twinkies will still be in 1st after this weekend. The Angels threw Ramon Ortiz yesterday. Escobar was supposed to go today, but a fingernail injury will keep him out, so Aaron Sele goes instead. And tomorrow, they'll throw Lackey against Santana. I just hope when they go up to Safeco next week, that Seattle's pitching can cool them off.
May 1, 200421 yr so Aaron Sele goes instead. I hope that's the same Aaron Sele that's 15-4 with a 3.48 ERA all time against them with a WHIP of 1.35, a K/9 of 6.34 and a K/BB of about 2. But all I can do is hope
