May 14, 200421 yr Muslims and Arabs weren't exactly sweet lambs of God in the Middleages, either. Only the Jews come off relatively "clean" in that time period, but that's probably due to their small number and partide assimilation. The idea of Jihad and their hatred towards Jews and Christians never arose until following the Crusades. My point, the Crusades, done by Christians, are a major, major reason for the Islamic feelings today, IMO
May 14, 200421 yr Nuking Iraq would push the global economy into depression. The fallout amongst the region would make it difficult to maintain current oil supplies. The price of oil would easily rise $10 a barrel & decrease US purch power by close to 100 BIL. That's a recipe for disaster for the world. It's better to pull back to Kurdish-controlled regions & back the Kurds in a civil war against the radical Shiites & Shia militia. It's selfish with respect to the Iraqi people but the most important resource in the world today is the OPEC oil supply. It must be secured & protected. OPEC should pay for that protection & security to offset the fact that the EU doesn't seem to give a damn. The oil barrons of the world just need a reason to raise praises. The bombing in Saudia Arabia gave them that reason. Whether it really has an effect on supply is meaningless.
