February 23, 200323 yr had Caruso been seasoned a bit more in AA/AAA and kicked his drug habit oh? I always wondered why he never got better and just regressed to nothingness. I had no idea about this. Another career lost to drugs. What kind of drugs was he doing? I never heard about that.

February 23, 200323 yr While Hawk can certainly hold his own, DJ is a joke. Always has been and has no right being in that broadcast booth. The push for DJ in the booth was a bad move several years ago and remains so today. His timing, inflection and presence are rotten, not to mention his sense of humor. He makes Ed Farmer look like a Hall of Fame broadcaster, which isn't saying alot. While Hawk/Paciorek were sometimes less focused on the game at hand, they were perfect together, something I can't say for Hawk and DJ.

I admit, If we could only have one person announcing games, yes, I would choose Hawk, but we can have two. Hawk and DJ I think have great chemistry together, and they both know what they're talking about.

You really could notice a difference when he worked with John Rooney. I lost this thread about 5 or 6 pages ago, just let me say I too really miss the Wimperoo.

Does anyone think that Konerko may have a job in the booth when he retires from baseball in 10 years or so? By the way, welcome aboard!!!

I still enjoy him doing games, I just yell at him to shut up now and again which I never did when he was with us... Whenever the Tigers play the Sox I get to hear Whimpy do a game or two over the season depending on which crew is broadcasting the games on Extra innings. I still think he's awesome to hear, but without Hawk he isn't quite as good cause the two of them always were getting along or at least it seemed that way in the booth. The discussions they would have would be so informing.
