Jon Rauch Optioned to Charlotte; Dransfeldt Recalled

As previously noted in an earlier FutureSox report, Jon Rauch was optioned back to Charlotte following his start on Saturday. The problem was Rauch left the team and was driving back to meet up with his family before the game was over. This upset both some of the players and Ken Williams who has made it well known that the Sox won't tolerate Rauch's actions nor does he ever expect him to pitch for the White Sox again.

Today the White Sox recalled Kelly Dransfeldt from Charlotte. Dransfeldt has played in 7 games for the White Sox and is hitting .333. He had a game winning pinch hit single earlier in the year for the White Sox. With the Knights Dransfeldt was hitting .290 with 2 HR and 11 RBI. He is capable of playing any of the infield positions.

Dransfeldt will likely be optioned back to Chicago the next time the Sox need a 5th starter, which is scheduled to be June 12th.

come June 12th, I wonder who that 5th starter will be...

Check out the article I just wrote on Munoz thats in the FutureSox forum. I am almost positive he is the guy.

will do, thanks.

Well aboz, you now have another Jon Rauch hater right here :-).

rotoworld:

Neither Stewart nor Jason Grilli have pitched very well for Charlotte, so the White Sox could bypass both and reach down to Double-A for Arnaldo Munoz.

i hate this move. They had Rauch skip a start before this ONE start in Chicago. He pitched alright for 3 innings before falling apart. He had pitched well in AAA this year and i really wish they would have given him one more start, but i think i'm in the minority here

*Edit* i just read that part about him leavng early. Forget what i said earlier. So, does this mean he's getting traded? We might be able to get someone decent for him alone or as part of a package

I can't see getting much for him, no team is willing to give up somebody worth mentioning for an arm troubled, major league unproven, head cased started...

Head case, can only pitch an inning or two

Sounds like a recipe for a closer ;)
