DBAHO
According to Newsday, To that end, Duquette was dialing up Seattle GM Bill Bavasi yesterday for news on Freddy Garcia, a No. 2 starter. Duquette was told Garcia isn't going anywhere for a week. But he'll be ready come next Thursday to try to beat five other teams: the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, White Sox and Angels. It doesn't hurt that Garcia wants to come, or that Garcia's agent, Peter Greenberg, has an excellent rapport with the Mets, a relationship that improved yesterday when Duquette saved another client (Hidalgo) from the depths of Williams' no-exit doghouse. "I think Freddy would be great in New York," Greenberg said. "He likes New York." Unlike Beltran, Garcia would consider signing an extension with an acquiring team. "Freddy would be open to talking to anyone," Greenberg said. He'd cost about $40 million over four years but might be worth it.
YASNY
I detect a bit of posturing on Bavasi's part. Sure, all these teams mey want Garcia, but do they have realistic shot at putting the proper package together?
striker
Who in their right mind would give him $10million a year? MLB GMs are a bunch of idiots.
