SAP thingie??

Featured Replies

I can't find a post on this so if it's somewhere else please merge. Did anybody check this thing out? What was it like? I tried using my SAP button and it said not available. Was it on a different channel? I had to leave right at the beginning of the game when they were kinda talking about it...and then when I got home, it was bottom of the 8th and I couldn't figure out what to do. Just wondering what people thought about it....

I'm guessing this is for ESPN because when I was at my aunt's house it was on FSN...

No it's on FSN. I thought it was this(http://www.fsnchicago.com/soxopenmic.php), but apparently it wasn't since they didn't even have the audtions yet.

They did say something yesterday like Sandy will be mic'd the whole game and Ozzie will be mic'd for an inning and I thought that was part of the "alternate" format.

Chaos,

The sox are doing two different things with thier broadcasts and your confusing them, and lumping them together.

The mics (on Sandy and Ozzie) were in the regular broadcast. We are part of a test market-type project being run by FSN. The White Sox broadcasts, along with 5 other teams(I can't remember which, though I know Philly was one), will be debuting a bunch of new bells and whistles. Sorta like the Fox broadcasts. In last nights game there was this "pitch tracker"(I don't remember what they called it) where they showed the flight of the pitches in the opening AB to Belliard. There was another feature where they showed a good catch by carlos, but they "stop motioned" carlos every couple of steps. So you could see 5 carlos's on the path to making a diving catch.

The second, the SAP feature, is set to go for a ten game run later this summer. For this feature, FSN is holding open auditions next week. To learn more about the "White Sox Open Mic", go Here

Edit: I didn't bother to read the whole thread.

Actually Cheat, from what I hear this morning this 6 team interview the manager deal was spearheaded by MLB.

That may be the truth. Hawk ripped the whole talking to the manager thing later in the game. DJ towed the line right behind him.

I'll see if I can find the article I read. It was a little blurb out of a philly paper, and I thought it used the term "test market"

Perhaps I'm wrong, I'll link the article:

Harrelson was far less excited about another new FSN feature--an in-game interview with manager Ozzie Guillen.

In an effort to get viewers closer to the field, Major League Baseball has pushed for players to be miked, managers to be interviewed during games and starting pitchers to answer questions after they've been lifted. The Sox are one of six teams in the pilot program. The Cubs are not participating.

Sounds like MLB is the driving force, but FSN has a hand.
