5th starter/stopgap starter idea

Many of you may kill me for this, but I would love to have someone like Shawn Estes on this team right now

He is 8-3 this year despite playing in Colorado and would be a perfect 5th starter this year for us

If we get a stud, then we put Scho in the BP

That way we get Stud, Buerhle, Elo, Garland, Estes as the 5 starters for the remainder of the year

And we send Cotts down and let Scho be the other left hander next to Marte for the BP

Marte, Shingo and Scho would make this a 3 deep BP

My point, you can't judge by a pitchers record

And Josh, my point is unless you figure out a way to get Garcia, you are better off at least trying to win the game that the 5th starter stars in instead of just giving up before it starts

Go get Garcia, Glavine and Randy Johnson...sure ...I know we have another 100M flexibility in our payroll

To me it all comes down to how much money do we have to spend, how much do we give up when we get someone here, is the other team going to give him up right now and ultimately what do we lose in the worst case scenario?

Yes, Estes has a high ERA, but guess what it is still better than our # 5 pitcher's ERA right now

Colorado is done for the year

Estes only makes $600K this year

You can get him for NOTHING

While he is giving us a fighting chance every 5th game, in the meanwhile go get the stud/s that you need for one starting position and bull pen using the real prospects that you have to give up

Bo Sox got Suppan last year and he helped them out quite a bit in getting them a fighting chance every 5th day

Right now WE DO NOT EVEN HAVE A CHANCE EVERY 5TH DAY....look what happens today

We have to stop burning our bull pen so early in the season, since our BP sucks and we cannot keep trotting out Marte and Shingo every freaking day

Some of you f***ing hypocrites need to think.

Suddenly our payroll is not going to increase by leaps and bounds. Suddenly we are not going to get these prospects in our minor league that will get us anyone and everyone. Suddenly, we are not going to find a stud prospect to pitch for us every 5th day
