  1. If Frank ever decides to retire, I hope the Sox will sign him to a one day or so contract and let him bat for the Sox for one game so that the fans can give him a final goodbye .... I would love to attend that game if it happened. Guaranteed sell out.
  2. KW has won the trades he made with Philly and Texas, and it looks like he will at least be equal on the trade with the As (too early to figure out how Gio and DLF do but I love Swish at the top of the line up) For those always bi-tching about our farm system, maybe some of those morons realizehow filling up a major league roster with really young players like Swish, Danks, Floyd, Quentin is MUCH better since they actually help you win NOW and are part of the future relatively cheap. Nice job Kenny.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 12:57 AM) Re-signing Uribe Wow, Mr Positive true to his form Obviously, the fact that we had no choice at that pont but to re-sign Uribe is lost on an ignoramus like you; the fact that Cabrera was available after Uribe was re-signed; and the fact that Kenny did what he had to do to get OCab; Uribe is a back up IF or a #9 batter with very good D at 2B for us....not the end of the world; unless it is you of course
  4. One of these days, people will start to trust Kenny around here Gavin Floyd, Danks, Swisher, Cabrera, Linebrink, Dotel, Nick Masset, Joe Crede etc etc
  5. .... Lets sweep and keep the momentum going I am enjoying listening to the pre game show on WSCR....Stoney is so much fun to listen to. Quick q: since WSCR radio feed is free on the internet, why would anyone pay for the MLB radio package? Anyone here doing that? If yes, why?
  6. Rodney gets good news from Dr Andrews....no idea though on when he will return yet http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnered=rss_det
  7. 3 outs in 11 pitches....not bad against one of the hotter teams in the league.
  8. Except for one Buerhle fan who hated Big Frank (cannot remember his name), I do not think you will find any other fan who will say No in this thread.
  9. The next 28 games (which will be 40 games total) are brutal for the tiggers: Yankees 6 times, Twins 5 times, Jays & Red Sox 4 times each, Rangers & Angels 3 times each, Indians twice and Royals once, AND they have only 2 off days scheduled between now and then. With their BP, it could be ovah by 1/4 season.
  10. Tiggers get off the schneide....time to win the series tomorrow for both Soxes....and then we get another chance to beat up on the Tiggers.
  11. QUOTE (sox-r-us @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) Ozzie was recently quoted as saying that you cannot steal 1st base and he would much rather have someone who gets on base at lead off (Swish) than someone who has speed but does not get on base as much as the other guy (see Owens). Here is the quote. Hopefully, now we can stop the perception that Ozzie would rather have Owens lead off instead of Swish (which is not true at all) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,2007109.story
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) Its been 7 freaking games!!! Yes, it is very encouraging the start they are on, but that does not mean Joe is back. He hadnt played for 10 months before this and he had an awful spring. I would love if he came back and he has started off well, but lots of people can go on a 7 game streak in thie league. And to say they are ahead of their 2006 pace is ridiculous. Its been 7 games. As someone said, Crede is on pace for over 200 RBI. I'm not gonna lie and say i'm not excited or optimistic about this team, because I am. They are playing great to start the year and i am thoroughly enjoying it. However, to get too excited because of 7 games to start the year is irresponsible. Looks like you are suffering from some bitter lemonade (see your sig - you may soon have to change it ... just kidding )
  13. QUOTE (VAfan @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) There is a wild card here -- Ozzie Guillen. He could always blow things by inserting Jerry Owens and his .636 OPS for Quentin's .900+ OPS. But there's hope that won't happen. The biggest indicator is using Swisher as lead off man because he's an OBP machine. Maybe Ozzie is starting to get it??? (Nah... But we can hope.) GO SOX! Ozzie was recently quoted as saying that you cannot steal 1st base and he would much rather have someone who gets on base at lead off (Swish) than someone who has speed but does not get on base as much as the other guy (see Owens).
  14. Winning begets more winning; and losing begets more losing.....anyone who has played team sports realizes that. Once you get off to a horrible start, after all of the over hype of how you were supposed to be a contender this year, players start pressing and they start feeding of each other's anxiety. Add to that the below average talent they have in terms of bull pen and defense, and that is a bad combo to get a winning streak going. But stranger things have happened, and will always happen; hopefully the tigers coming back is not one of those
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) This isn't WSI, the mods here don't get off on suspensions and bans and I get the feeling it's not something they like to do. He is correct; knightni already warned me about suspending me for bumping the thread that calls KW and the Sox a joke....if you post negative stuff; it is all good here....typical Sox talk. If you want, I can point you to the thread....go to the thread started by Steve and read it for yourself. All off season, the mods dd not see anything wrong with all of the Sox bashing....now when those who were supporting the moves are throwing it back, the mods suddenly decide to get "nazi" on us.
  16. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) i think tex hit the mark with his post. we have two mlb caliber third baseman, one on our roster and one in the minor leagues. that is a good thing any way you look at it. if joe crede has a helluva year, stays healthy and consistent, the 2008 white sox are going to be better for it. if he gets hurt, plays like crap, or just has major issues, we have a ready-made replacement. i fail to see why this has been such a flashpoint for debate. the uribe thing i can understand, but the crede thing is mystifying to me. The reason it is a flashpoint for debate is because all off-season some of these "sox fans" (wink, wink) kept crying about how Kenny was a joke and how the Sox were going to be joke; then this whining became larger when some of the roster moves were made - like picking Crede over Fields and picking Masset over Wasserman. Both Masset and Crede have contributed and justified their selections UNTIL NOW (this is subject to change since only 7 games have gone by); so obviously some of these "sox fans" are all defensive now because they have been exposed to know little to nothing about baseball and winning. Some of these "sox fans" would have much preferred that the Sox would have been 0-7 right now so that they could thump their chests and show how they know more than Kenny W and Ozzie G. Negativity is what is promoted here.....sad, but true. Quod Erat Demonstrandum.
  17. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 01:54 AM) I don't think it's too early to write off the Tigers. Bad pitching is bad pitching whether it's 10 or 110 games into the season. They're a .500 team or slightly above that if they start hitting, and even that is questionable. Last year's team had a bunch of guys at their career bests, not unlike 2006 Sox, so it's not out of the question their offense will be worse this season (not "last place" worse, but middle of the pack). Trust me; if the Sox had the same record and had they played the same way, there would be 1000 threads on this board telling everyone how the Sox would not win a game in the next century.....hypocrisy rocks on this board and if the Sox are doing well, some of these "sox fans" just cannot be happy.....
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 11:49 PM) Funny, I heard many people saying the Sox season was over in something like Nov of last year... .... the double standards on this board can never cease to amaze me.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 11:18 PM) If they dealt Porcello it would be moronic. I agree; though I think they may try to bring up Porcello at some point to pitch in the bull pen to stop the bleeding.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) Christ, the season is over after 7 games? Would you please step the f*** back and realize that there are 155 left? Seriously, it's April. I love that the Tigers suck, but they aren't going to go 0-162, and they aren't going to finish in last place (barring some more injuries to their lineup). Easy bro....you can always avoid reading this thread if it pisses you off so much, you know
