Wimbledon Scoring Mistake

Featured Replies

The umpire lost track of the score. Venus Williams lost the match.

In a bizarre conclusion to a huge upset, the chair umpire called the wrong score in the second tiebreaker, and Williams fell in straight sets Thursday to Croatia's Karolina Sprem in the second round at Wimbledon.

Umpire Ted Watts incorrectly called the score as 2-2 in the second-set tiebreaker, giving Sprem a point when instead she should have been taking a second serve.

That was unbelievably stupid. These people have played tiebreakers for years and didn't realize something was up. WTF? I still can't believe that happened. The sad thing is that the announcer said 2-2 after the 1st serve, which was called out, and let them play the 2nd serve on the same side. He had no clue what he was doing.

I watched it yesterday and was just shocked at A. how stupid the scorekeeper was, and B. how dumb everyone else in the stadium along with Venus.

Thats ridiculous.
