Trade Aftermath

Featured Replies

Freddy Garcia, SP, White Sox. Garcia has been one of the best pitchers in the AL already this season, but now he'll actually get some run support. Only the Expos have scored fewer runs than the Mariners, while the White Sox lead the majors in runs scored. Garcia owners rejoice.

Aaron Rowand, OF, White Sox. Rowand has hit .392 in June, bringing his season average into the .300 range, and he also has shown power. Perhaps his strong showing is what made the Sox comfortable enough to trade away prospect Jeremy Reed.

Miguel Olivo, C, Mariners. I'm not down on Olivo, but his owners should be a little nervous after he was traded to Seattle. First of all, Seattle isn't a hitter-friendly ballpark. Secondly, he's going from a contender to a last-place team. Thirdly, he's going from the best lineup in the AL to the second worst. Finally, he was crushed when informed of the trade. He was quite attached to the Chicago players and coaching staff.

Perhaps this will change some peoples minds?

I agree that offensively Olivo is going to take a decline in offense out in Safeco.

His real value will be if he can be a line drive hitter to the gaps there and making a living off of doubles. Home run cuts like he took at US Cellular will get him nowhere in Seattle.

Its not really that Olivo was the best player on the block, it was more that alot of fans felt he was one of our guys, and when you lose a player like that its sentimental.

Who knows when his contract is up, maybe we resign him.

Thats what every other team says lol.

I hope we can resign him in 3 years.

He's a hell of a player.

glad to see A Row getting his due.

all he does is play his butt off

I still think Olivo is going to give it his all even though he is not on a contender because that just the kind of player he is.

Plus, his arm will win fans over, and he's only going to get better at calling games as he gains even more experience.

Miguel's best days are yet to come, for sure.
