YASNY
Q: Paul, rumors suggest that the Chicago White Sox may have a lot of interest in trading for Jason Kendall. For much of last season, I think most of us would have taken a case of IC Light for Kendall -- just to get rid of the contract. But in light of his hitting this year -- and improved defense -- has that changed? I know a lot of media repeat that "$10 million a year for a singles hitter is too much," but, frankly, I don't have a problem with Kendall's contract at this point. Why would anyone not be willing to pay $10 million for a catcher who hits .330, plays every day and can run? Given his performance, if we trade Kendall, it better be for the house -- and not J.R. House, mind you. Jeff Dudash of Durham, N.C. MEYER: Good one, Jeff, about J.R. House. I got a chuckle from that. I haven't heard one rumor about the White Sox being interested in Kendall - and, besides, Kendall has a blanket no-trade clause in his contract. I doubt that he'd agree to a trade to the White Sox because they play in the American League. If Kendall ever is traded, he'll agree to go to a West Coast National League team. And maybe Colorado or Arizona. That's it. But the chances of us ever learning if any trade scenario involving Kendall actually would happen aren't that good. Take it for what it's worth. Wedge
Maybe they'll take Ben Davis for Kendall?
DBAHO
Something tells me he'll be traded for Ramon Hernandez and a cap filler, they were pretty hot for him in the Brian Giles deal.
