BuehrleTheAce
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...s_cws&fext=.jsp Even though he's lost some velocity, he thinks his problems stem from the fact that hitters know his cut fastball is his featured pitch, so he's elected to stop featuring it, thus leading to his pre-2003 problems - hitters keying on his fastball and changeup. IMHO, USE WHAT WORKS!! Sheesh, how many times does it have to be said??? Keep doing the same thing until the hitters prove they can hit it! My God, it took him 1/2 a season to figure this out? Cooper should have been POUNDING this into his head from Day One. Loaiza's success last year could be directly attributed to the development and frequent use of the cut fastball. It goes without saying that if he wants continued success, keep using it!! We'll see what happens in Part 2 of the 2004 season. I hope he does regain the confidence in his pitches like he had in 2003, it'll make the rotation all the stronger.
Wedge
I think his biggest issue is that he can't locate the cutter inside like he did last year. It was nasty how well he spotted that pitch last year. If his location improves, he'll return to form.
Yoda
He needs to do a lot better in the 2nd half. Mark Buehrle and Freddy Garcia have been doing their job (even Garland has). A very good performance after the All-Star Break won’t cut it. He’ll need to do it for the rest of the year. We have our 5 starting pitchers, but not all of them have been giving it their best. Once they do, we will look more dominant.

Agreed 100% Just like in real estate, it is all about "location, location and location"
AngelasDaddy0427
Well hopefully he can use this pitch as effective as he did last year and if thats the case then I think he won't be as successful as last year but at least he won't be batting practice... If he can get that ERA into the 3's i'll be very happy...
False Alarm
i'm not too optimistic. i don't think he'll be this bad, but i think hitters proved they'd adjusted to his cutter in september last year. he wasn't very good that last month, and it continued into april this year before he moved away from the cutter some. i'm not sure going back to relying on it's gonna help a bunch. but i do hope so.
