There is a definite difference between how people of means are treated by our criminal "justice" system as opposed to how poor people are treated. (i.e. OJ Simpson)

Not sure why Martha is included there. I personally think she was railroaded. The 'star' witness was anything but believeable and I think her b**** persona got her convicted more than any facts in the case. Oh well, I still like her show on the food channel. :P

Yes in most cases if these were normal average people, they would be rotting in prison somewhere.

I believe the balance is the media coverage. Celebrities are judges more harshly, with no rules of evidence, by the public. The public's judgement is in many ways far more damaging then the court's judgements.
