July 26, 200421 yr To the naysayers that say Frank isn't HOF material because he has DH'd for so long: Paulie was a DH for 10 years. Can we finally put this to rest? Your thoughts...
July 26, 200421 yr it cant do anything but good for frank it also depends on how much longer frank can play and what he does i mean, molitor had almost exactly 4,000 more AB then frank and played for 6 years more then frank.. also had 1,200 more hits 165 more 2B 400+ runs 100 more 3B 1,000 more total bases 480 more stolen bases on the other hand frank already has 215 more HR 130 more RBI 400 more BB .70 points higer carrer OBP .120 points higher carrer SLG like i said, it can only help frank i do think if some crazy ingury ended his carrer right now, he would have a shot of getting in (knock on wood) but if he plays 3 or 4 more consisant years, he has a good chance if he gets 3,000 hits (887 more) and 500 HR (74 more) then he will get in for sure

I think he's a HoF anyways, but the 500 should lock it up.
July 26, 200421 yr Molitor shouldn't have to open the Hall. i think DH's should be allowed in. it's a position in baseball, just as second base is. if DHs aren't allowed then second baseman shouldn't be allowed in.

Agreed, but how often do you here that argument? "Frank can hit but he's only half a player blah, blah, blah." Maybe I've been hitting the Cub's boards too much. It has been known to turn one's brains to s***.
July 27, 200421 yr My opinion is, if they are going to have the position in a baseball game, there should be Hall of Famers from it. If baseball is going to have a DH, there should be HOFers who are DHs. Same goes with closers.
July 27, 200421 yr Molitor and Thomas, though both long time DH's, are two different types of hitters. Comparing their respective numbers is a moot point. Molly getting in does set a precedent that should help Thomas when his time comes.
