July 28, 200421 yr Blackhawks Re-Sign G Jocelyn Thibault July 28, 2004 The Blackhawks announced today that they have re-signed goaltender Jocelyn Thibault to a one-year deal. Thibault, a 5'11", 169 pound, 29-year-old netminder appeared in only 14 games with the Blackhawks last season after undergoing hip surgery on Nov. 15, 2003. In his 14 appearances, Thibault posted a record of 5-7-2 with a 2.85 goals against average and a .913 save percentage with one shutout. Thibault had a record of 5-3-2 with 1 shutout, a 2.27 goals against average, and a .933 save percentage prior to his injury and surgery in November. In his six seasons with the Blackhawks, Thibault has appeared in 321 games while posting a 137-142-37 record with a 2.63 goals against average, a .905 save percentage and 28 shutouts. He currently ranks 4th on the Blackhawks' all-time wins list (1. Tony Esposito -- 418 wins/873 games played, 2. Glenn Hall -- 275 wins/618 games played, 3. Ed Belfour -- 201 wins/415 games played, 4. Jocelyn Thibault -- 136 wins/321 games played) while tied for 5th on the clubs all-time shutout list (1. Tony Esposito -- 74 SO, 2. Glenn Hall -- 51 SO, 3. Chuck Gardiner -- 42 SO, 4. Ed Belfour -- 30 SO, T-5. Jocelyn Thibault -- 28 SO and Mike Karakas 28 SO). A veteran of 11 NHL seasons, Thibault has appeared in 536 career NHL games while postings a 227-217-68 record with a 2.69 goals against average, a .905 save percentage and 36 shutouts while playing for Quebec/Colorado, Montreal and the Blackhawks. He represented the Blackhawks at the 2003 NHL All-Star Game, his first All-Star appearance

July 28, 200421 yr This was announced at Blackhawkzone.com nearly two weeks ago. The terms for the contract are the following: 1 year, $3.3 million. That's a $200K raise from last year. Hopefully he won't get hurt again this year so that he can be a good teacher for our goaltenders of the future, Michael Leighton, and Craig Anderson.
July 29, 200421 yr i don't understand the t-bo hating, dude is behind one of the perenially softest defenses in the league with little scoring support, and when healthy, can play 70 games a year and be a wall in net. he's the cornerstone of the team.
July 29, 200421 yr Ohhh Goody... more years with Mr. Softy in net. Sheesh. I used to laugh at this clown when he was with Montreal. He'd give up soft goal after soft goal & now he's been giving up soft goals in Chicago for several years now. They could leave a tree stump there in net and have fewer goals against.

The guy is a back up on any other team in the league. No Kevin Weekes did that. The prick was leaning against the net (right after a Canes goal to tie the damned game) when someone took a shot from right inside the blue line and it was in for a goal. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I saw that (one of three damned games that I got to see last year, at least the other two were wins ).
July 29, 200421 yr Well Kevin Weekes is a terrible goalie too. I wouldn't say TBo is terrible but he isn't great either. Like I said Tbo would be a back up on most good teams.

If Weekes didn't whine so much to the press I would say he would be a great backup goalie, but he has a history of it (apparently did it alot in NC from what I read on Canes baords and definitely did it when he was with TB). Tbo was great in one game I saw him in, but looked really soft in most of the others. Gotta agree with you on your Tbo assesment, Evil.
