A bunch of teams report that White Sox GM Kenny Williams has inquired about nearly every right-handed-hitting outfielder who might be available. But an official of one team Williams contacted says that, after trading five prospects for Freddy Garcia and Carl Everett, the Sox don't have much left. "Their system has slipped," the official said. "They've traded away a lot of players. They've got some speed-gun arms at the lower levels. But there's no impact-type pitching down there. They have some outfielders (Joe Borchard, Ryan Sweeney). Like Jason said weeks back, trading prospects is a good way of utilizing your farm system. That's one of the reasons you try to build it up as solid as you can. Borchard (some teams might still take a chance), Spidale, Anderson, Sweeney, Nanita, Brice, Chris Young and maybe King (second round pick last year). With Honel and Wing hurt, starting pitching is questionable. We're empty at catcher. And the infield prospects are several years away. In the last year we have traded away ... Hummel, Rupe, Webster, Francisco, Ring. Rauch, Majewski, Reed, Morse and probably a few more that I cannot remember. That's a bunch for any farm system to survive. After so many trades in the past 2 years, we gave away most of our dealable prospects....I have a feeling we're just going to try and win this thing with what we got.
