Hey Tex/Kapkomet, you ever read Friday Night Lights? You guys pay attention to HS football?

My wife went to Permian for 3 years and transferred to Odessa High her senior year. But I really don't pay attention to it too much, but I'm sure 15-20 years from now, I might.

The lead sports story on the local news is always HS football. The local sports radio talk show will be 90% HS sports. Fans know the names and tendencies of all the top HS players. McAllen High School's stadium seats 5,000 and it sells out.

This picture is from a scrimmage, not even a game.

One local radio station hires 26 stringers to cover all the Rio Grande Valley games. It is truly amazing.

I think that's so cool. That's what I love about basketball here.

A few of the high school stadiums here are 8000+, and a couple are 10000+ (and no, I'm not talking about Cowboy Stadium).

Dallas people are nuts about their football.

(and probably some other things, too)

And I cannot even begin to explain the love for 8 on 8 football.

Two Words

Mighty Ducks

That movie is Minnesota.

If that movie is Minnesota, then Minnesota really sucks ass. Cause that movie did.
