Even with Frank and Magglio available early, though the team had a decent OBP, we did have trouble getting guys into scoring position. Unproductive outs caused by K's, pop ups, hitting in front of the runner, lazy fly balls and of course, that Sox staple, the GIDP.

We couldn't seem to execute a sacrific bunt (which I still disagree with as a philosophy) or a hit and run with any degree of consistancy at all. When we did try a sac bunt, it usually failed leading us once again to the unproductive out syndrome mentioned above.

We need to start stocking up on players that seem to have at least a sliver of baseball instinct. That's the problem with this team.

I think the reason the two graphs are so skewed is because of a lack of consistency. Clutch hitting is all fine and dandy, but neither of those graphs speak about the amount of runs the Sox have scored on a game-by-game basis.

Remember, the White Sox have scored 10+ runs 20 (or more) times this season. It then goes to reason that we're getting baserunners home (high # of hits with RISP). However to contrast, the offense can go completely anemic for long stretches, thus producing a low OBP.

Consistent clutch hitting and getting baserunners has been this team's problem for most of the year. When they hit, EVERYONE hits and they put up lots of runs. When they're not hitting NO ONE hits or scores runs. Lack of consistency, in my opinion, is the reason the two graphs show such disparaging numbers for the White Sox.

Some of the guys that I'd like to have on this team - the contact, OBP types, would be:

-Aquiring Hairston from the Orioles, and platooning he and Harris at second.

-Aquiring Damon from the BoSox, moving Rowand and his strong arm to right field.

-Aquire Catalanatto via free agency. That would be if we didn't aquire Damon.
