redandwhite
The Beacon Journal Reports: The Indians should deal Matt Lawton. It won't be easy. Lawton has one year at $7.5 million left on his contract. After the All-Star break, he hit only .239 with 5 HR, 21 RBI. His on-base percentage is still a respectable .352. No one will pick up all of Lawton's contract, or even half of it. But his overall numbers are pretty good: .277 average, 20 home runs, 70 RBI, 109 runs scored, 23 steals, .366 on-base percentage. I'd offer Lawton all over baseball, saying I'd be willing to assume at least $5 million on the contract. My goal would be to at least save $2 million. I'd say, ``You can have Lawton for free -- or a marginal prospect -- and all it will cost you is $2.5 million on the contract.'' Who wouldn't pay Matt Lawton 2.5 million dollars to be in that number two hole?
WilliamTell
Where would he play though?....assuming Lee is back next year.
redandwhite
Assuming Lee is back next year, he doesn't fit into the plans. With that being said, acquiring Lawton for virtually nothing and paying him 2.5 million along with acquiring a couple of solid players for Lee is a much better situation than paying Lee 7-8 million dollars and having holes at other positions. This proposal gives the White Sox the funds to go after a Pavano or a Renteria when before it wasn't possible.
JoshPR
No thanks. He sucks. What's the hard on for the former twins around here?

redandwhite
No thanks. He sucks. What's the hard on for the former twins around here? An on base percentage guy who can steal bases, hit you 20 home runs, and produce like hell out of that two hole gives me a hard on, not the fact that he is a former Twin. He's always hurt and i've heard of Attitude problems. For each his own if you like him fine, I can respect that, But I don't

Money talks also I'd assume.
