In no way are the Sox wrong for pulling the offer when it became questionable whether he could play. And there is no way Magg's should have signed the old offer, 'very, very fair' or not, without at least testing it against bids from other teams. Heck, I can't buy cardboard boxes for the shop without cross quoting, why is baseball different? My issue is with folks who are defaming Ordonez' character. It seems it's OK for the Sox to pull back from a player after 13 years with the organization 'for the good of the club', but if that player enters the free agent market he is disloyal, greedy and selfish? Folks are trying to have this both ways.

When I have felt the Sox were being bashed unfairly here, I may have said ... they did this because Maggs said that .. or something. I wish Magglio nothing but success. ...... Unless he goes to the Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, Twins, etc.

But when he started lying to the fans and to the organization, the gloves came off. When he flat out called KW and the organization liars, when he was indeed lying through his teeth burns me. He deserves to be called on it, and he will. He is the same smile for the cameras and tell the fans what they want to hear liar as the other right fielder in Chicago.

Before his injury he could always say that, even if his numbers weren't as good, he was less risky b/c of Vlad's back, and that made him just as valuable. I'm not arguing that position myself, I'm just saying, there are ways it could be 'justified'.

I know about the surgery in Austria and his appaent unavailability to the Sox, but what has he said to deserve this venomous response? Anyone? Buehler? Anyone?

Here is what it read after KW's comments: "GM Ken Williams on the news that OF Magglio Ordonez said back in June he felt the organization was taking him for granted." I remember Magg's saying that, or something to that effect, before he got hurt, but I wonder if KW, in October, was aware that Magg's said it in June. I'd sure as heck like to see the comments he made..... or at least learn in what context they were made. Geez, this could be all about NOTHING.

"This organization has taken me for granted," Ordonez said then. "They're going to try to make me look like the bad guy in all of this. I won't let them." Like I said above, if KW was led to believe that this was recent then he I can see him getting upset. In any case, the is more NOTHING than something here.
