Why did everyone want this guy so bad. I know hes the Rudy of baseball but his stats are not great. Why did u all want him so bad. Plus the fact that he got 3 million a year.

i just thought that he would have filled the leadership role on the team very well. also, another problem that the sox have had is consistency. it seems to me like he is a very solid and consistent player, something we would want in the 2 spot and at short.

He's a grinder, but other than that, I didn't really want him.

He works very hard, he has a WS ring, he can field, he can steal, he hits .270 constantly, and he would be a good #2 hitter for us. He was the best middle infielder on the market. Those are the reasons we wanted him so bad.

i think he just fit well into the biggest need the sox had. he's the type of player the sox seem to want to remake their image around, and he'd have given them pretty good insurance in the middle infield.

Eck's stats are not great...but they ARE good.

Career .278 average, career .347 OBP, 82 career SB's, 198 career K's(in 2300 ABs), very solid defensively...he would have been the perfect #2 hitter for us.
