January 14, 200521 yr I mean ever since they moved the plate up and decreased the dimensions, The Cell has become kind of a band box. With losing some big bats (Mags, Lee, Valentin)...and trying to get a "Ozzie-type" team...and the focus being on pitching...do you think it would be smart to include increasing the dimensions back to what the were?
January 14, 200521 yr if you move the plate back wouldn't you have to move a ton of other things? Well maybe not a ton but it would disrupt some things. I know they moved the fences during the renovation before but if I'm thinking correctly(which is hit or miss) it would make alot of trouble.
January 14, 200521 yr IIRC when they moved the roof and upper deck portions, the wind gusts changed due to that. I think the Sox need to look at some way of deflecting the wind coming down left to right.
January 14, 200521 yr The fences were moved in at some point, but I think it would cut into capacity and necessitate moving the bullpens to move them back. Moving the plate back would eliminate most, if not all, foul territory at the fences. That is too similar to the urinal at Clark and Addison.

Thats right, cause the bullpens now are in a completely different place than they used to be. They added a buncha seat when they moved the bullpens.

I don't know what is possible, if the Sox have hemmed themselves in with the new configurations. I do know that they've decided to give Ozzieball a try and they're playing in a park that is now the closest thing to Coors Field. I mean they redesigned the Cell to make it fan friendly and to cater to all those home run hitters. Now this. Does the right hand know what the left hand is doing??
January 15, 200521 yr itb be good, id like to have a pitcher's park either move the plate back or change the dimensions of the roof so that the wind is shifted in some way...cant really explain but just an idea.
