greasywheels121
WHY?!?! I think this might end up biting him in the ass.
jackie hayes
Can't understand that at all. It's not about winning, he's already done that. It's not about finishing college, he's close enough to do that anyway. It's about, in his words, "college football and this whole atmosphere here and being with my friends and my teammates". Challenge yourself, move on.
WilliamTell
I think that's cool he wants to stay, but why? He's done everything and then some.
Fotop
Leinart is a dope, he'd easily be the first pick in the draft if he left because san fran could use a qb. This could mean that he doesn't want to play for the niners and is inadvertantly pulling an Eli Manning, but this is pure speculation. So much can happen between now and this time next year and if you can get guarenteed tens of millions of dollars now why the hell would you stay with your two national championships and a hesiman? Is there some sort of uber-award he can win that we all don't know about? All I know is if someone pulls a McGahee on him, his future disappears. Seriously, any sort of injury would destroy him. This really makes no sense whatsoever, and I'm not going to say I respect him for staying in school because it's a fifth-year...it's not like he'd be leaving "early" (after 3). He should have a degree or be damn close by now. Way to go Matt, you may have just screwed yourself out of a huge (guarenteed) signing bonus that could set you and your family for life. What an idiot.
backman
the guy has his whole team back, it simple for him, he wants to stay in school and play with a team that makes it easy for him, instead of going to the draft and ending up with a team were he could end up sitting on the sidlines all year, he would rather stay in school , get his degree, play a system of football that would allow him to have fun and set a record for most national championships in a row possibly back to back heismen winner. also he wants to finsh school in case he is a bust, he needs something to fall back on aka his degree. LDF
QUOTE(backman @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 05:27 AM) the guy has his whole team back, it simple for him, he wants to stay in school and play with a team that makes it easy for him, instead of going to the draft and ending up with a team were he could end up sitting on the sidlines all year, spend a yr on the bench, lets look at that down fall of a pict you are painting. prob will get pick as the #1 of the whole draft, earn how much $$$ mil, and most important gain financial security for him and his family. that is the lousy part of going into the draft. don't get me wrong, i am not judging him for or against, i commend him for his decision and wish him the best in 2005. Correct -- lest we forget other famous Heisman flops like Andre Ware, Danny Wuerffel, Gino Torretta etc.
