The Cubs were among the teams originally interested in signing Ordonez, believing they could reel him in with a two-year deal. Ordonez's stated desire to stay in Chicago led the Cubs to believe he'd jump at the chance to prove himself on the North Side, trading long-term security for the comfort of playing in Chicago.

 

This was from today's tribune article where Maggs says Kenny was making the leg an issue or whatever.

 

Anyway, just read that paragraph above, I was laughing my ass off at it. Could you imagine if the Sox offered someone like Carl Pavano a 1 year deal compared to what he got because playing for the Sox was just so much greater then playing for the Yankees and getting a heck of a lot more money and a long term deal.

 

Gimme a freaking break...And can you imagine the press and media that would of been calling the Sox cheapskates for making that type of offer. My god, its good to see Hendry, who was once labeled a god, blowing things up on the Northside. Still there pitching will keep em in it, but as of now, they are going nowhere.

Apparently the Cubs thought Maggs would like to stick it in the Sox faces...obviously money talks. I'm still baffled that the Tigers are paying him all this money. Vlad Guerrero must be sitting at home thinking, 'this gimp just signed for more than me'.

 

If Hendry was such a genius, it wouldn't have cost him $17 for Burnitz (Sammy's 12 + 5 for Jeremy)
