This one is not good.  Sexual extortion and rape seem odd tools for peacekeepers.

U.N. Sex Crimes in Congo

Damn you're fast!!!

Seriously though, I'm not going to fault the entire U.N. for the actions of a few assholes who prey on the weak. The real scandal is Oil for Food, which hurt far more people and may well reach to the top of the U.N. bureaucracy.

Scratch out "may" with "does" and you have hit the nail on the head. Its a completely different ballgame when the peacekeepers on the ground do something stupid (granted this is waaaaaaaaaaay past that) and when the leaders of the world's organization that is supposed to be looking out for the world are taking bribes.

That whole region of the world is so messed up right now. And no one really cares, which is the saddest part of all. There is genocide going on right now in the Sudan, and UN is too busy arguing whether 80,000 people dead fits the definition of "genocide"

So does that mean that Paul Bremer should also be held accountable too since 9 billion dollars in Iraqi Oil Revenue went missing under his watch?

That amount by the way is greater than the fraud committed in Oil for Food.

Was it? I have read that Hussien himself made at least $10 billion from the 50 cents a a barrel kickbacks he was recieving.

And as for Bremer, has any money been connected to him? To his son? To a genocidal dictator? As bribes to foreign governments?

Sure he should be fired if they can't account for the $9 billion. That alone is indefensible. But this isn't even in the same league as bribing a world body.

The UN doesn't want to get involved if the US isn't going to subsidize 90% of the costs. That's a big part of the problem.

The CPA no longer exists. The Voelcker report that everyone crows about alleges the fraud to be approximately 6.5 billion dollars from Oil For Food. It's estimated that Saddam Hussein was able to make approximately 20 billion in illegal revenues from other streams.

That would mean sales of 20 billion barrels of oil. This would mean that Iraq would have had to produce over 2 billion barrels of oil a year for sale under the Oil For Food program. At its peak during the containment regime, Iraq was selling less than one third of that yearly.
