Somebody Proposed me this trade

Featured Replies

I was offered Eric Chavez and Bartolo Colon for Schilling. Currently my 3b is Chipper. But somebody else offered me Irod for Chipper, and my catcher is Lo Duca. Should i do the Chavez trade?

That depends on how good the rest of your starting pitching is.

I wont make a new thread, but I'm debating this blockbuster trade. First you need to know that my pitching staff is stacked and the guy who offered me this has a weak staff. I need a few guys who can fill in anywhere and a thirdbaseman. Here's what he offered.

Keith Ginter

Mike Lamb

Jerry Hairston

Oliver Perez

for

Pedro

Bartolo

Kevin Brown

What do you guys think?

You have to have better to comparable players to ginter, hairston, and lamb. None of them put up overally impressive numbers. Perez is a stud but so will pedro in the national league. No way you trade that much pitching ( possibly very good pitching) for three marginal guys at best.

See if they have someone younger and thinner than Fatolo.

Chavez and a younger SP would be fair for Schilling. I think Curt is due for a partial decline this year since he will be shouldering more of the SP role.

IRod might be a good trade for Chipper if Ordonez is healthy.

I'd offer him Bartolo and a different SP to him for Perez and Hairston.

You'd be giving up too much in the trade he offered you, in my opinion.

well i counteroffered larry walker and schilling for Chavez and Schmidt, but i doubt that he would do that trade

Schmidt > Schilling IMO.

Chavez >>> Walker

Chavez >>> Walker

Why because he had 26 more stolen bases? Walker would have easily been superior than chavez in every category except stolen bases if he had the same at-bats. Walker> chavez at the very least.

Primarily:

(>)Chavez' position - 3b tougher to get quality stats from than OF

(>)Chavez' Age - Chavez is quite a bit younger than Walker

(>)Chavez' playing time - Walker will not be in as many games as Chavez this year due to his age and his history of back problems.

:bringit ;)

Okay, commentary on both deals. If it has to be Chavez and Colon for Schilling, then don't do it. Chavez isn't enough of an upgrade over Jones to justify the downgrade from Schilling to Colon. However, if he has a lower ranked guy with great stuff like Oliver Perez, Harden, Becket, or Burnett, that would be worth it in my book. As for Chipper for I-Rod, no thanks. I don't care how scarce catching talent is, when there is that big a difference in production don't do it. LoDuca will do fine, I'm not so sure I Rod will even out produce him that much. Another thing to consider is whether or not Jones is OF eligible in your league. If he is, then you can move him there if that is a weak spot on your team.

As for the other deal, no way. You definitely need to get better position players in the deal. None of those guys are starting caliber, you need to get at least one, possibly two depending on their talent level. However, If you can find a way to get Perez without giving up Pedro, that would be a nice addition.

Yeah I declined that trade and made a counter of Pedro and Kevin Brown for Perez and Ginter. My pitching staff is stacked and I don't think Pedro will stay healthy so I'm trying to get Perez for him. We'll see what comes of it.

Now we have a new offer. Pedro and Vasquez for Dunn and Perez. Keep in mind I have plenty of pitchers and need a LF until Berkman comes back and I need another corner infielder. (Dunn plays both positions) Should I do it?

That one's pretty solid. I'd do it.
