Had a thrill last Friday

Featured Replies

I had the oppurtunity to see George W Bush speak at Notre Dame.

It was a town hall meeting type. Including him, there were 7 people on stage. They spoke about Social Security. I've supported Bush's policies, but have always cringed when he speaks. That being said, I must say, in person, he comes off a lot better. He worked the crowd well, and joked a lot! It was a good time, even if the crowd was hand picked. There was one guy that stood up and started saying, "Mr. President! Mr. President." The Secret Service was on him in no time. One guy said something to him and he sat down. Later, I noticed him clapping a lot, so I have no idea what that was about.

Anyway, Republican or Democrat, seeing the President speak was quite a thrill. Especially for this amatuer Presidential historian.

How did you know in advance he was going to be there? I didn't hear about it until that day.

You had to have a ticket. A guy I know through the Knight of Columbus had a bunch and called me Thursday night.

I saw him speak the Wednesday before the election and he does sound better in person than on TV. It's awesome to a see a president speak.
