White Sox Luck

This year, for the first time in a loooooong time, the Sox will open the season at home. This means that some lame TV reporter gets to go and hang out outside the stadium to collect interviews about the coming of spring and how baseball is finally here.

Uh Oh .... if all holds true, the lead story on the news, let alone sports that day, will be the Illini championship game, as it should be. But of course, when the Cub open their season at home it will be that Friday when all the Final Four stuff will be over.

We can't win when it comes to exposure.

I guess we all have to hope the Illini don't make the championship game. :P

The Sox will get exposure when they win. Winning is the only thing that will put butts in the seats and grab the Sox headlines. Until they make the playoffs [and maybe not even then], the sox will be overlooked and underappreciated around the league.

Unfortunately, this is true. Luck is never on our side. Like when Sammy Sosa plays that first series back in Chicago in May, all the reporters will be out there on the first game, which is a Thursday, which we will be lucky to draw 20000 fans. But we could come close to a sellout on Saturday, but by then it won't matter. It is alos unfortunate that our best series' are later in the year .... Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs.

Who says the Illini are going to make it to the championship game? Furthermore, how do you know that the home opener is definitely going to be played on 04/04? It could rain/snow/sleet/tornado.

As someone pointed out earlier, win and the media will be there.

It could, but all they would have to do is wait 15 minutes and check the weather again. :P ;)
