SURPRISE, Ariz. -- White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen underwent a cardiac catheterization in Tucson and missed today's game against Kansas City in Surprise.

The procedure, used to check the heart and blood flow throughout the body, was scheduled two weeks ago, trainer Herm Schneider said.

Guillen, 41, underwent the procedure at the University of Arizona in Tucson. The examination was scheduled to coincide with Thursday's off-day.

Guillen, known for his energetic style, was advised to have the procedure, which is relatively safe. The tests also measure the levels of oxygen in the blood throughout the body.

Guillen is expected to rejoin the team Friday when the Sox play the Cubs at Tucson Electric Park.

Get well fast Oz... :gosox1: :pray

Though it sounds alarming.. it's a very routine proceedure and not an indication of a heart problem. Moreso investigative.

He's fine, they just announced on the telecast that Ozzie has been cleared.
