WCIU is WGN's sister station and they only show baseball games when there is some sort of conflict with WGN superstation. Like there is a national show on superstation at the same time as a baseball game so they bump the ballgame to WCIU. It sucks. But if you are out of Chicago the only way to get the WCIU games is to buy the MLB extra innings package via satellite or digital cable.

Talked to my friend in Florida, and the sox game on direct tv was not available because it was on WCIU.

That's true. WCIU games are not on Extra Innings unless you can get the opposing teams feed.
