valponick
I think that we put Marte in in situations which are way too high pressure. I understand that people might get upset with him but I remember reading some stats about how he was put in games last year with the most pressure (or some relevant stats). Shingo hasn't looked all that good so far but I feel he can get it done if he gets the chances ( I don't think he is our closer in the future but a great setup man). I think that Dustin is doing a solid job and should be given the pill in the closers slot until he proves he is going to give up a run. Just some random thoughts. All-in-all I think it was a solid game and we got it done so GO SOX but we just need to define some roles!
DonkeyKongerko
Marte is a much better guy starting an inning. He sucks as a situational lefty and with inherited runners. Then again, who else should Ozzie bring in?

beck72
Before last year, Marte was always money when coming into "high pressure situations". For whatever reason, he's been off his game
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 02:23 AM) Marte is a much better guy starting an inning. He sucks as a situational lefty and with inherited runners. Then again, who else should Ozzie bring in? Well, in Friday night's game, it was stupid - no other word - of Ozzie to leave Vizcaino in against Ichiro and Reed - 2 lefties - and then bring Marte in for the 4th guy in the inning. I know Vizcaino has become known for getting lefties out too, but Marte to start the 9th was the right way to go.
The Critic
Hermanson and Vizcaino were such HUGE additions to this team. They are KEY to the Sox chances this season. Dependable veteran bullpen arms are worth their weight in gold.
SoxFan562004
I hate how Ozzie handles the bull-pen, he uses guys for 1/3 of an inning way too much, I would have had Marte start the 9th and let or at least left him in after he hit the batter. elrockinMT
QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Hermanson and Vizcaino were such HUGE additions to this team. They are KEY to the Sox chances this season. Dependable veteran bullpen arms are worth their weight in gold. Hermanson and Politte have done the best so far this season. Just have to keep in mind that it is very very early to lose confidence in anyone, but I ahven't been impressed with Shingo, Cotts or Marte. Vicaino has his moments good and bad.
