Chicago Marathon...and marathons in general

Featured Replies

I wanna know why they put marathons on TV. Do people seriously sit and watch these things? Are people waking up at 6:30 just to watch the marathon? Does anyone really care who sets a World Record in a marathon besides the person who set it and their family? I mean, do people sit in front of their TV watching in excitement as a new record is set? Seriously...

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

Runners are fanatical.

Today would be a day to stay late in bed anyway. With the stiff wind gusts, I'd be shocked if any of those runners set a WR today.

Didn't someone set a world record?

I don't know. I'm surprised Jjav didn't add to the "marathons in general" topic that marathons are stupid. The human body isn't designed to run 26.2 miles (that is how long a marathon is correct?) as evidenced by the plethora of ambulances and medical personnel on hand at these stupid ass events. Hell, my body isn't even designed to run 5 miles a day let alone 26.2 miles at one time.

The human body really isn't designed to do a lot of things we put it through, but it adapts.

People have a passion. I'm seriously debating training for next year's marathon... Gonna take a lot of laps in the pool, though.

im with you jav.. besides who in the hell has the enegry to get up and run one of those things that early in the morning... geez us noone i know and certianly not anyone here lol lol lol lol lol

marathons suck. I live right by Comiskey and they blocked off all the god damn streets. I was in Michigan for the weekend and couldn't even get to my own house.

good luck to the runners, but the people who organize it are either really stupid or just plain ole ignorant.

I don't really have anything against the runners themselves. I mean if you want to do that to your body and are able to, so be it. I just want to know why NBC actually put this stuff on TV. I was flipping channels while eating my pancakes and was like WTF? Do people actually sit and watch these things on TV? I mean it's even more boring than NASCAR.

It all depends on how well the knee holds up.
