At least until recently, there seemed to be at least one scenario under which any given player would last until the 4th pick. Since there seems to be quite diverse opinions here, I wanted to get a sense of which player you'd most like to see on the Bears, whether or not you believe it's realistic that he falls to us.

You read every article on the combine and you know these guys' 40 times to the hundredth of a second. You know about the character questions arising from that ill-advised frat party in '02. And you even know who attended the workouts and who was throwing the ball to them. So who's it gonna be?

I wanted to get Alex Barron and Pac Man on the list, but they were the odd men out. If you pick other, post your choice!

Finally, it should be obvious, but just in case -- Bears fans only!!! :P

What a great thread Jackie!

Braylon's the guy.

Who want to take: Mike Williams

Who I think we will take and will dislike horribly: Benson

Ronnie Brown gets the nod over Cadillac Williams.

So is there a Mike Williams vote coming any time soon? ;)

Edit: Okay, one shows up now.

In order of preference..

1. M.Williams

2. Brown

3. Edwards

4. C.Williams

Anyone else is a disappointment.

My wish becomes shattered as each hour passes, but that doesn't mean I can't hope for it to still happen: Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas.

I've heard a con that has scared me from just about every player that has been discussed (the majority of the time) for the Bears fourth pick. And I can't shake the Ray Lewis comparisons out of my mind.

For a second, dream of a LB core of Briggs-Urlacher-Johnson.

Now, go back to dreams of whoever you want. :P

I was waiting for that Derrick Johnson vote. I didn't even need to scroll to the bottom of the page to see if you were in the thread. :D

I'm the Benson pick, so I ain't doing too good myself.

I voted Mike Williams. I think it will probably be Braylon Edwards but the David Terrell occurance isd scaring me...

Anyone but Benson (I would really like Mike Williams though)

Personally, I think you guys are all crazy with this "anyone but Benson" talk.

Or we realize that Thomas Jones will outproduce Benson this year if Grossman has 2 WR's to keep defenses honest.

So which of his 6'0 215 frame, Doak Walker Award, ABC Sports All-America Player of the Year Award, 4 years of over 1,000 rushing, 64 rushing TDs (Third all time), or 621 reception yards that have you staying as far away as possible?

Mike Williams 30 TD, 6'4" 230 frame, 2 years of 80 grabs and 1,000 yards and doesn't fall asleep in big games.

Ron Dayne.

And

Cadillac Williams:

5 feet 10 7/8, 217 pounds, 4.43 in the 40.

Ronnie Brown:

6 feet 0¼, 233 pounds, 4.43 in the 40.

Cedric Benson:

5 feet 10½, 222 pounds, 4.53 in the 40.

Benson is not that much bigger than Cadillac, but he does not play nearly as fast.

It's gonna be a fun one fellas! See ya on draft day!

Plus, Badger -- if the Bears take "Cadillac" (I know that's spelled wrong) Williams, can you think of all the endorsement opportunities gallore? 'Cause, you know, the Bears are sponsored by "Cadillac".

Ah -- a PR-guy's dream...

"With the 4th pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select....Mike Williams, WR, out of USC."

"With the 39th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select....Frank Gore, RB, out of Miami."

If the Bears take Gore in the 2nd I will cry.

I wont.........that is a steal.

Are you serious?

This guy is getting project 3rd 4th round everywhere.

I wouldn't say 4.53 is not "nearly as fast" as 4.43.

Still, I agree, Benson is no darting rb. But the guy is a bruiser and he has a ton of production to show for himself (which also shows he's been durable). He gives you a different style than Jones, which gives the Bears insurance in case Jones just doesn't fit a Ron Turner offense as well as a Terry Shea offense (a real possibility -- not to mention the possibility that Jones returns to form). And 'not as fast' does not mean 'not fast' -- just like Jamal Lewis isn't as fast as Brian Westbrook, but he still gets some awful big gallups. I've seen enough of Trung Canidate, I want power in a rb too, and Benson's got both sides of the coin.

My thing is you can get Moose and MW on the field together a helluva lot more than you can Benson and TJ

I think Benson would be a great pick, but if the Bears pick a wr, I'll trust them on that (whichever wr). I admit, that's a tough choice. I was just responding to the 'anyone but Benson' posts. A case could be made for any one of the 3 big rbs, certainly, but noone can convince me that Benson would be a flat out mistake.

As I was trying to explain I don't think Benson will be bad I would just prefer to go another route.
