May 7, 200520 yr Thought I'd help out here a bit ... Birmingham beats Chattanooga, big offensive day for several guys. Owens 3-4, Ryan Sweeney 3-5, and quickman's man crush Casey Rogowski 4-6: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...biraax_cngaax_1 Winston-Salem loses a 13-10 slugfest: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...potafx_wswafx_1 Kannapolis loses 6-5 in 12 innings, but a nice outing from Ray Liotta: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...kanafx_lcoafx_1 Charlotte rained out. May 7, 200520 yr I thought I was nuts last night when I looked at the box scores, but its still there today. How did Paulino get a save by pitching to 1 hitter while up 5 runs? Even if Meaux had 3 people on base for Reynoso, that still would have left them down 1 run.
May 7, 200520 yr I believe a save is awarded if the potential tying run is at the plate or on deck......
May 7, 200520 yr Yup, I looked it up. Here is the save rule for those who have not already put it to memory..... SAVES FOR RELIEF PITCHERS 10.20 Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions: (1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and (2) He is not the winning pitcher; and (3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions: (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or (B) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces); or © He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game.

May 7, 200520 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Feel better BHAM. Do you know if there was any reason why Jenks didn't close last night? The only reason was Hannigan was a lefty and Rey hasn't given up a hit to a lefty yet and has made them look bad in the process.
