"My kids call me 'The Time Bomb,' " said Guillen with a laugh. Guillen also could laugh about the uproar caused after Sunday's game by his stern reaction to being second-guessed by a television reporter for removing McCarthy when he did. Guillen pointed out that Bobby Cox took out Kyle Davies, another rookie hurler, after five innings Saturday during Atlanta's 7-5 victory over Boston, preserving his first career win. But because it was Guillen who made the move, he felt he was criticized. "I wasn't mad about getting second-guessed," Guillen said. "I was mad about the way he asked me. I'm not stupid. I know you guys are going to come up with that question. "That's part of the game. But the way he asked me that question, when I don't even see you but maybe three times a year and you're going to come at me with a stupid question, I will respond the way I think I should respond."
May 24, 200520 yr He needs to keep his tantrums to a minimum. He deserved to be asked that question. I didn't hear it, so I don't know if Brad Palmer's (it was him wasn't it?) tone or demeanor offended him. More than likely Ozzie realized that his decision cost the Sox a chance to win the game so he went off again. Actually he reminds me more of a land mine than a time bomb. Ozzie is in many ways a likeable guy, and I really liked him when he played SS for us. I'm still not convinced he is the guy to get us to that elusive point C. I see too many shortcomings in the roster and the personality of Ozzie.
