Did the Vikings give up their pick

Featured Replies

For anyone just watching the draft, what the hell just happened????

they didnt get it in in time so everyone jumped up and put their picks in before they could...pretty darn funny :D

the viqueens front office is more up then the sox???

ya basically they "passed" and can come in with their pick at anytime, however any other team can continue to pick as long as they are on the clock...hence the rush of picks. 2 years in a row for the Vikes, bunch of morons. :bang

They did that so they wouldn't have to pay him a 7th pick salary, but instead a 9th pick salary, which, by the way, is significant enough to save the Vikings decent money. I thought it was strategic.

denny green , working for espn now , said another team was on the phone with minnesota faking a deal to move up in the draft to prevent minnesota from trading down because they picked in the next few picks and knew a team was trying to trade up ahead of them for the player they wanted....so this team kept minnesota tied up saying..if you do this we will swaps picks with you and before minnesota knew it their pick was up.....not sure who the team was but they made minnesota look stupid

Did someone hire KW to do their dirty work? Did they offer Mike Sirotka?

it wasn't a strategic move at all by the vikings, because as mortensen said, the league allocates a certain amount of money for signing draft picks. if they allocate money for a 9th pick, and kevin williams wants 7th pick money, it's gonna be a sticky negotiation.
