I wish Esteban the best and I'd be glad to face him this year :D  however I do believe he'd be much worse then Contreras if he was still around.

Based on what exactly? Did you see Contreras' last start?

Yes I saw Contreras's last start, he hasn't been good 3 of his last 4 starts but before that he was literally awesome. Esteban's numbers aren't to much better then Jose and he plays in the nl and plays at RFK which is a pitchers park. Bring him to the al and have him pitch at the cell and his era is probably around where it was last year, jmo.

I agree, I'd rather have Jose.

However, he needs to get his confidence back and take the sign from AJ and throw the damn ball. It seems Duque and Contreras are the two guys who have a hard time listening to AJ's game-calling and those are the two guys who routinely get into trouble. If I am Ozzie I tell both of these guys to never shake off AJ, throw the ball and shut the f*** up. (End of rant.)

Oh god, I couldn't agree more. It's the most frusterating thing in the world to see a guy who doesn't know what the hell he's doing out there shaking off one of the best game calling catchers in baseball.

I think thats a great reason to not go with Jose. I am just not falling in love with Contreras' stuff and ignoring the fact that he's remarkably inconsistent and has yet to put together a good major league season. How stupid do you have to be to pitch like Jose? Keep it out of the zone so everyone walks, don't listen to your catcher, get hammered. Seriously you would think all he needs to do is look at his results to realize he needs to change his strategy on the mound.

And I don't think even when his ERA was lower he was awesome. He is pretty much a six inning pitcher because he is inefficient with his pitches and he always finds ways to put runners on base.

Actually before this last string of starts he was top 20 in the majors in whip so that's not entirely true.

But you can't just count the good stretches.

Well you said even when he was going good he was putting a lot of men on base and that wasn't true.

He was putting guys on base, but his WHIP was low because no one can touch him when he's throwing his forkball and fastball for a strike consistently.

Hell he could walk a ton of guys and still have a low WHIP because his stuff is just that damn good. I know for a while there he had one of the lowest BA against in the majors.

Too bad he doesn't use it effectively consistently.

That's the thing though even if he'd walk a guy here or there, there still wasn't a ton of guys on base because he didn't allow very many hits.

Sorry the wording was unclear. I did not mean specifically when he was going good he was putting a lot of runners on base. When he was going good he was still walking a lot of batters and allowing a lot of homers. Fortunately he wasn't allowing a lot of hits and I guess his timing was good on the homers. And he definitely is not a guy that goes deep into games. I suppose its just frustrating right now because he's been so bad but summing up Contreras's performances he's no more than a back of the rotation guy. Thats what Loaiza is and he's cheaper.

Haha, just imagine yourself in a line to get the jersey signed.  There's Politte, Marte, and Walker at the table.  Cliff and Damaso sign it and just as Walker reaches to sign it, you pull it away and say "no thanks."

That would be hilarious.

Wow that is very very cruel lol, Idonno if he was at the table and went to go start signing it I would let him, I know he isnt that good but hell he is good enough to reach the majors at some point in his career and he really seems enthusiastic about this team wasnt their an article about him being so happy being a white sox somewhere.

As for Elo yes he was awesome in 2003 and he seemed like he was great with the fans, the only thing that turned me off some was when he went to NY and said maybe he will finally get some run support. Which at the time he had the best run support in the league.. if not the best top 3.
