July 7, 200520 yr We scored tickets to the race from NEXTEL. Jim and I will be in a suite, and my folks in the grandstand. I've never been there for a race.. anyone here have..? We're debating on driving ourselves since we live in Plainfield, but they are offering us rides from the hotel downtown which they claim will be escorted and faster. Just not sure if it'll be faster to go all the way downtown and then back to P'field. I remember it took hours and hours to get out of Michigan and Atlanta when I went. Thoughts from the NASCAR crowd..? TIA
July 7, 200520 yr I've been to the drag strip that is next door - LOVE IT! We were planning on trying to get tickets, but never did (we were hoping his sister would give us her free tickets - oh well). Have a blast and can ya get me a Jeff Burton autograph lol?

July 8, 200520 yr I scored some tickets to tomorrows (saturdays) USG Durok 300. Now im not sure what this is or if i even want to go. should i expect an extended delay leaving?if the race is at one and im an hour away, how early do i have to leave (leave out the smart ass answers) ? Does anyone REALLY want these tickets (Prawn), cause i might not use them? anywho they are Pit tickets?!?! that good? thanks in advance. Edited July 8, 200520 yr by Stocking
July 8, 200520 yr i went 2 years ago to the Busch race on Saturday and traffic WILL get backed up kinda early but if you leave right away you can get out quickly other than that no real problems

July 12, 200520 yr Author Had a great time. Got to eat breakfast and mingle with the guys before the drivers/owners meeting Sunday morning. It was very hot out there.. at least 40 degrees hotter in the garage area's. We got to see the inspection stuff up close which was cool and hanging in the pits was interesting also. The suite was amazing.. sat with my folks for a bit but had to go back up thanks to a pounding headache. We ended up having police escort in and out so we were back downtown in less than an hour after the race was over.. although my folks made it home in less than a 1/2 hour (they live in Joliet) so I don't think the traffic would have been an issue anyway. Eye.. I didn't tell Jr to get his "head out of his ass " verbatim.. but I think he got the hint. A ton of people are Jr fans... and it's nice to see him recognize that. He's very nice to his fans. We were asked not to take pictures or ask for autographs at breakfast, but he stepped outside the tent and took some for chicks. Gordon was by far the most antisocial. Came in, grabbed a muffin and some juice, and the second people started walking his way he took off. I don't like him anyway so I didn't care. Overall, good time. I'd do it again in the suite. I don't think I would have enjoyed myself as much in the grandstand.
