July 12, 200520 yr Patrick Selin. Remember this name. In ten years, get back to me. I saw some video tape of this kid playing hockey in a camp that I'm sort of helping out with. He's 100% the next Peter Forsberg. They were playing a group of North American kids and won 25-3, I think he had 7 goals and 10 assists, I kid you not. And these kids are not that bad. Hockey camps in Canada are going well... and the NHL has signed some camps with a certain instructor THIS August/September. I think hockey's back, folks!
July 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) ANy rumors on how they will do the hockey draft? New York teams first, "for the good of the league".
July 13, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) ANy rumors on how they will do the hockey draft? The earliest indication is each team would get an equal shot at Crosby. I think that is one of the things that they are still squabbling about.
July 13, 200520 yr From what i read/heard somewhere, everyone will have an equal shot at Crosby. I guess the rich teams got the league to agree to this because those teams were pissed about having to deal with such a low salary cap. Those owners were going to make sure they got something out of this deal, i guess. Regardless, an equal shot for everyone is complete and utter bulls***.
July 13, 200520 yr If he ends up someplace like Edmonton or Buffalo, then the draft was truly not rigged. I think the chips will fall where they may, and "where they may" will be Madison Square Garden.

July 13, 200520 yr If NYR "win" the lottery, then the NHL sucks. I realize what they are trying to do, but they are comprimising the integrity of the game.
July 13, 200520 yr Author You wanna know what's really scary? Whoever drafts him might not even see him play for their team, because of the new restrictions being placed on the entry level players. There's a solid rumor that says he will go over to Europe to cash in because of the cap. Personally I think that's bulls***, but that will now be life in the new NHL.

That's a very real possibility, and it'll definitely hurt the league, if the league can be hurt more than they just did to themselves. To have the top young players play overseas ( which would be playing at home for most of them anyway ) would be a very bad thing.
July 13, 200520 yr Author The only reason that WON'T happen is because he's already making boo-coo bucks from endorsements.

July 13, 200520 yr Author The way that they are going to market this kid - frankly won't matter where he ends up. He's something special.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone was the next Peter Forsberg. Let's just hope our current "next Peter Forsberg" Tuomo Ruutu didnt spend the last year eating nothing but Big Macs.
July 13, 200520 yr Author Let me put it this way. The guy who trained Forsberg as a kid, is training this kid. I saw it with my own eyes. This kid is no Ruutu, not even in the same league, he's 10 times better - at least on a sliding scale for that age. Trust me. You're not talking to someone who doesn't know anything about hockey. Edit: I don't mean to sound conceited, and I realize I probably just did. However, I have a connection or two in the industry. I'll leave it there. Edited July 13, 200520 yr by kapkomet
