Shingo

Let's settle down. He had a bad outing. Pitchers do that. Let's face it the Indians for some reason have his number. If you take out the Indians games he has pitched in his era is a very respectable 4.08. How do you expect he would pitch after not pitching for 7 days. Plus he wasn't getting good footing on the mound because of how wet it was. Same with Marte to. JUST DON'T PITCH HIM AGAINST CLEVELAND!

Why didn't Tadano have a problem getting good footing on the mound in the top of the 9th?

4.08 isn't all that respectable for a relief pitcher. Especially one who comming into this season was supposed to be our closer. Not to mention the fact that his ERA was 2.31 last year.

And after all that he's pitched well lately, this outing is not going to make me feel any worse about Shingo.

That's ridiculous.

You like the guy and constantly post it here and at WSI, so you advocate Guillen protects him against a key Central rival. Either he's good enough or he isn't. He is miscast in his current role, which is mop up. He is not a mop up guy, nor does he have the ability to throw long relief which is basically what the Sox need from the 11th pitcher.

You cannot build a pitching staff and then say, "Wait ... we can't pitch this guy vs. Kansas City ... we can only pitch this guy vs. the AL East ... we can't pitch Shingo vs. Cleveland ... and we can only pitch Garcia in day games ... and we definitely can't pitch Cotts vs. Oakland."

Ludicrous, and unrealistic. This is not fantasy baseball.

i thought today was a different shingo. he got ahead of em 0-2 a lot but it wasn't so much that he couldn't put em away. to me, it looked more like he was being lacksadaisical in that it seemed like he was expecting them to chase a bad pitch on purpose cause of the lopsided score and rain delay to get the game over with, not necessarily cause of bad command or lack of aggressiveness. i think he underrated their wanting to battle.

Don't position players that are left handed get platooned when they are against a left handed pitcher? Not saying all lefties do but alot of them do. I do advocate ozzie protects him against a key central division rival ( if you really want to consider the indians a rival)... better than him giving up 13 earned runs in four innings. I am not saying eliminate him from pitching against the rest of baseball, but the indians have hit him, and hit him hard. They have his number.

You cannot just subtract multiple outings from a pitcher to make his era look good. One is fine anything more is gettin carried away. How do i expect him to pitch after seven days rest? Um, good. It is not like he has been injured and come off the dl and has not throw in a while. He throws every single day to keep loose. Marte did not look like he had bad footing? He made a good pitch in on the hands of sizemore but sizemore did a good job of getting a hit out of it.

I think Shingo's psyche is very fragile. He has had a number of bad outings early this year and now when he satrts to pitch a bit better he gets in trouble again. He seems to havea real hard time throwing strikes and when that happens it makes his off speed stuff almost ineffective and he isn't a fast ball pitcher even though I have seen it register at about 90 on occassion. I seems he tries to use the soft speed to often, can't find the strike zone and digs himself a hole. Now rumor has it he may be trade bait.
