beck72
As the trade deadline has drawn closer, I am convinced that Ozzie has taken the "Good cop" role and KW the "bad cop" role in regards to possible trades affecting the sox roster. Going by their recent public statements, [esp. since last week when Ozzie was gushing over AJ Burnett] Ozzie sounds like the head of the family who wants to keep everyone together. While KW is the guy portrayed as wanting to break up the family. This tidbit from the Tribune the latest example.----------------------------------------- "We're out there trying to get the player [who can make the most impact]," Williams said. Manager Ozzie Guillen, who talks frequently with Williams, downplayed any chance of getting a big-time player. "Right now, there's nothing out there that's going to make this team better, believe me," Guillen said. ------------------------------------------------------ If this is the strategy, I like it. It takes the heat off Ozzie, who needs his players to stick by him, even if he'd like to replace a few of them. And it gives KW the right amount of fear that he needs from players to keep their "relationship" in perspective.

beck72
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) Good point. I just can't wait till this is over. 32 hours/35 minutes to go. If it's that stressful on us fans, you can imagine how relieved the players will will be after 3pm on Sunday. Of course, there's always the waiver deals
3E8
Ozzie may be taking it too far though. He guaranteed Marte and Contreras they wouldn't be going anywhere. From what we've heard, Marte is a main trading chip in almost every deal. Edited July 30, 2005 by 3E8
nitetrain8601
Well that's a problem. KW must go on without Ozzie if he thinks that this team can't be improve. This team could improve in all areas if you ask me.
