this losing streak shows just how much podsenik means to this team, i have completely underestimated his importance to thius team.  i thought he was being overhyped by the winning record this year, but he is the real deal

 

Well, if this team lives and dies with Pods, then we have another 10 games or so until he returns. I guess I should sell my Sox playoff tix then.

Pods just changed the whole dynamic of the team. He'd get on base some kind of way, steal a base or two and drive the opposition crazy. Guys tried to hit behind the runner, make contact, anything to keep the inning life. Now the team is lifeless in a way that it never was in the corpseball days of the departed Jerry Manuel. Plus almost everybody is trying to hit a home run no matter what the situation is. Crede and Uribe are exposed as non major league hitters. Timo, I won't even go there. This team needs a bat badly and continued excellence from the starters.Good won't be good enough. Damn right I'm worried. Podsednik is missed badly.

Scott Podsednik (groin) ran Saturday for the first time since being placed on the disabled list Aug. 15.

Podsednik said the groin was pain-free and ''it's getting better every day.''
