2nd game a must win

Featured Replies

I think that it is offically time to start to panic. We find ourselves in a position that if we lose game 2 of this double header, Cleveland will have gained a game on us without even playing today. If that happens we are 6 games up, a month ago we were 15 games up. The Indians schedule isn't going to get much tougher and they are playing pretty well right now. We have built our team around defense and pitching and right now neither of those aspects of our team are playing up to, or even near, par. I'm by no means giving up, I still believe this team has what it takes to win the division and do well in the playoffs. When I say its time to panic I am thinking more that yes, we will get into the playoffs, but is this team playing like a team that will do anything in the playoffs? It is just a really bad time to be going into this kind of funk and as the days go by there is less and less room for error. There are a lot of veterans on this team who would do just about anything to get back to the playoffs and have a chance at a ring, I just hope that they can somehow find a way to get back to the same team we saw a couple of months ago. :gosox1:

I agree with half of your assessment. This team has what it takes to win the division, because it's very improbable that the Indians can come back this late. This team does not have what it takes to do well in the playoffs, and I'm not sure how you could possibly assess the situation otherwise.

If our pitching staff, defense and offense can play up to their potential/talent then yes, I think they could do very well in the playoffs.

I don't think the offense is very talented, and basically every playoff contender besides Cleveland (who we couldn't play in the first round anyway) has schooled us since just before the allstar break in terms of combined record

If the Sox can get to the playoffs and stop making errors they have a chance to win because of their pitching. When you get into the playoffs it becomes all about the pitching so I think they're built for the playoffs. They just have to get there first.
