valponick
I think this team is good to go. When I say that I mean I like what I saw from our slumpers. Uribe, over the last few games has been heating up, lets ride him into the postseason, we all know he is capable of carrying a team. The other person I want to ride is Mr. Garcia, tonight he showed me how he can be a stopper. Tonight might not have been a MUST WIN, but it was definitely an important game, and Garcia showed me that he can step up and be the ace that we are missing right now. Garcia was dominating tonight, something we can all look forward to in the playoffs. WE WILL get into the playoffs, and we WILL win the ALDS, I'm tired of the haters. That is all I have to say, Go Sox.
Jordan4life_2007
Every game is important from this point out. Getting off to a good start this month was critical. I think we need to see a sustained stretch of dominance again before we can say this team is "back."
YASNY
Back? This team never left. They've been in 1st place the whole damn season and they are still there. Comfortably. They hit their rough stretch and got through it. Now, they roll on to a division title. For starters....

Agree YASNY. I've said elsewhere in Tread Land that one essential ingredient to playoff victories is going through a rough stretch and clawing your way back. I think/hope/trust that August was that time for the Sox, and they'll be the better for it. :rolly One big caveat, though: The PODS must stay healthy...healthy enough to steal. I believe that our phenomenal success up to the All-Star break was based largely on his playing with the pitchers' mind as long as he was one first, or for that matter second base. That was one of the explanations offered by many during the phenomenal stretch, but its confirmation can be seen in how the Sox did while he was out. Case closed. PODS is god. Pauly8509CWS
QUOTE(valponick @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) I Uribe, over the last few games has been heating up, lets ride him into the postseason, we all know he is capable of carrying a team. Take it easy there, Juan Uribe has trouble carrying his bat to the plate much less carrying a team with it.
greasywheels121
QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Take it easy there, Juan Uribe has trouble carrying his bat to the plate much less carrying a team with it. That wasn't the case in 2004. We all know he's capable of it. There's no reason he can't be turning it on now.
fathom
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) That wasn't the case in 2004. We all know he's capable of it. There's no reason he can't be turning it on now. When Uribe is swinging the bat well, he's one of the more dangerous hitters in the AL because he can spray the ball all over the field. The new leg kick is awesome, as you can tell he's picking up the ball better.
elrockinMT
Frustration with a losing streak can make people say strange things like "this team is dead" or "we can't win without Griffey" etc. But as others said the Sox have been at the top all year long. We know we can't win 162 games in a season and as much as we want to win every game you know you will go throuhg slumps. Luckily our slumps haven't equated into losing our dominance in our division. If we continue to start hitting on all cylinders we can ride this into the WS. We have a dominant pitching staff and good enough hitting to win against anyone. The only regret I have is the the Big Hurt isn't healthy and playing.
