retro1983hat Posted September 15, 2005 Share Posted September 15, 2005 I hate to say it, but I feel that the fate of the season rests on this afternoon's game. Our supposed ace on the hill against the worst team in the league. If we can't take a series from the Royals down the stretch with a team breathing down our neck, how the hell do we expect to play in New York or Boston or St. Louis in October. No excuses, today the Sox MUST win, or else I feel they are probably done. After the loss last night, I almost wasn't mad, I kind of expected it. We are playing with no fire or intensity right now and Cleveland is playing great. Oh, and yes they can play .800 baseball the rest of the year. The Yankees limped into the playoffs in 2000, losing 10 of their last 12 games, they only won 87 games that year yet still pulled off the division. They also managed to win the World Series that season. Meaning, Even if you suck your last week of the season you can still go pretty deep in the playoffs. I can't imagine their fans were feeling any better about the postseason than I am now but they had won 3 of the previous 4 World Series before that.
