Series games and hurricanes

Gentlemen (and ladies)...

What a great performance by our Sox in Game 1, let's hope it carries over to Game 2.

Seems like some kind of disgusting irony that I will have waited my entire life to see the White Sox in the world series (grew up in the south burbs before moving away to college, then moved up to the north burbs afterward before settling here in Florida) only to have that joy wiped out by a natural disaster.

Let's hope not.

I live in Naples, Florida, the area currently being targeted by Hurricane Wilma. While I don't anticipate the storm wiping me out -- be it in a personal-safety sense or property wise -- I hope you'll all join me in hoping the people here on Florida's Gulf Coast all the best during this ordeal. This storm won't do the damage Katrina did, it won't be the monster Rita was before it hit land. But it will most likely make life miserable here for the foreseeable future. Maybe it will just disrupt every-day life here by knocking out power (and anybody who has been to South Florida knows how steamy it can be here without A/C). Maybe it will flood homes close to the coast. Maybe it will be wide-spread destruction. I don't know. I'm not a weather guy.

But, above all, I hope people in my adopted hometown of Naples come through this OK.

Thanks for letting me vent. As Andy the clown would say, Goooooo yooooooou Whiiiiite Sooooooox.

And if you ever want to have a beer and watch a Sox/Bears/Bulls game here in gorgeous (but tempermental) Southwest Florida, just lemme know.

:gosox4:

Stay safe and keep cheering for the Good Guys in Black!

I live in tampa florida, if it puts of my power, i well be more pist off then anything possible.

Stay safe... I'm over on the east coast, near Lauderdale, and I fully anticipate losing power at some point. Hopefully I'll have it back in time for the game, but if I don't, and that's the worst problem we have, I can live with it.

hopefully everything works out ok and you can still see the game. Good luck and GO SOX

Damn it looks like you guys took a direct hit. Hopefully you are all OK.
