Why not just make it 40 cents and save another rate increase proposal in a year?  To be honest with the increase in gas prices I am surprised they aren't looking for a bigger jump.

The post office was making a mint off the .37 cents for a while.

They did a lot of re-bidding moving the postal mail around, cut costs, and fuel wasn't an issue really until about 15-18 months ago.

In case you didn't know it, Fed-Ex moves most of the mail around now. I'm VERY familiar how all that went down.

So are we.. and they made a gazillion bucks off that deal..

No s*** they did. Fed-ex fleeced the post office. And fleeced damn near every freight airline and HASP network in the country. Monopoloistic bastards.

Out of the blue a few years ago they tried to bid on our LVP line.. basically small home delivery items. A small % of what they do now, at the time we were doing about 3+ million more a month then them exclusively.. Thankfully the CEO told them to get lost. They would have ruined it completely.

Yeah, IIRC they got the last increase after 9-11 and Anthrax stuff right? Fuel has got to be their big cost now, and I doubt they are effecient enough to actually hedge their costs like some of the airlines do.
