i was gonna ask if that was the same rick ankiel...i thought i missed something ......that is the cards rick right?????or what once was the cards rick.........lol.........

It's really sad how much Ankiel has fallen of the Earth. He was quite good in 2000, until he had the playoff game with 3 WP's in 1 inning. That shows that one game can ruin a pitcher.

He was an amazing talent. I still think a change of scenery and he may appear in another year or so with another club, someone like Tampa or something along those lines. He's still very young.

yeah but wasnt he coming back from an injury or something like that????

On Ankiel, I saw him play twice in AAA and he was just unbelievable. He was dominant in every way. One of the few players you just shake your head over as you leave the park. His downslide has been sad.

 

Don't be surprised to see him get to the Majors again though, possibly as an OF.

He was an amazing talent. I still think a change of scenery and he may appear in another year or so with another club, someone like Tampa or something along those lines.  He's still very young.

I heard they we're gonna make him an outfielder or something. This was like two weeks ago, not sure where it was either. The belief was that he can hit, so try him elsewhere. s***, I forget now, maybe it was first base.

wow...i would have never thought it after the rough start they had gotten off to... but they are a defending championship team and must step it up.......makes me feel tons better that at least some team in this org. is doing good.......i knew i shoulda gotten the barons season tickets and racked up the frequent flyer miles instead of renewing these damn sox tickets......

When Ankiel went back to the Appalachain League and played for Johnson City, they also played him at DH when he didn't pitch. He led the league in HRs. Hit .286 with 10HR and 35RBI in 41 games.

The Barons got 17 hits, and Stud Scott Bikowski did not even play. The kid is hitting .347. I guess they sat him because he's a lefty and Rick Ankiel is a southpaw. Does our minor league guru have a bio on Scott?

Barons in first......I think this has to be a testament to the amazing job Wally Backman has done with his ball club.

 

There honestly isnt all that much talent at AA this year....yet they continue to win. Whereas AAA is loaded with they AA guys from last years championship team plus JB and Roachie and yet their still only .500

 

Not saying that this is all backman's doing..... but i think we al must admit that he has some intriguing skills as a manager. Lets just hope we dont lose him
