"Heated Arguments"

Featured Replies

But, blatant disrespectful, stereotypical bigotry is quite another:

Bottom line for the last 4 decades, if you wanna f*** kids your best bet is to study up on that catechism.

I grew up in a staunch Roman Catholic family, even briefly considering seminary (strange but true), but I'm happy to say I've made a full recovery.

Warning: This forum is not for the faint of heart. Do not come in here if you're not willing to, at times, get into heated arguments.

I'm not faint of heart and I'm more than willing to get into a heated argument, but does this mean I should have to put up with this? Could I, as a male, white Catholic, say the same type of things about Jews? Blacks? Women? Does that fall under "heated argument"?

You're Catholic, white, and republican, pretty much everything you say is racist.

Even asking if you can say something is racist...so please stop with the offensive questions/comments.

:cheers :lolhitting

But there's no double-standard in Progressive America.

:rolly

Yeah, I'm a jerk.

But don't knock the progress I've made as a recovering Catholic. Twenty years guilt free, but every day is a struggle.

I wonder what the response from the left would've been if I had labeled the Democratic Party as "aiders and abetters of homicide" because they "coddled" Ted Kennedy after Chappaquiddick.

Oh, there'd have been a mighty rightious outrage I'm sure.

That is, obviously, the same thing. We aren't comparing apples to rocks there are we?

And here in lies the balance that we are trying to find. To save the feelings of the majority of posters who found the religion and politics threads too extreme and well, just too everything, and to allow for the free swinging banter back and forth, Filibuster was founded.

For the most part, it has worked and worked well. Last night, and it always seems to be at night, things boiled over between some outstanding, long term posters. What I read was raw, honest, communications, between people who are very comfortable with each other. The opinions did not surprise me, anyone who has been here for any length of time would recognize some of those posts without names.

The decision was made to close the thread to avoid more fireworks. The thread was clearly over any line that was established for SL&P, and would have resulted in some person or persons being sent to the penalty box for a 5 day misconduct. In Filibuster, it's a closed thread.
